LANGFORD, B.C. - Statement from City of Langford mayor-elect Scott Goodmanson:

"I am honoured to have been elected by the people of Langford as their new mayor. They have placed their trust in me for this important role and I am both grateful and committed to showing them over the next four years that that trust has been well-placed.

"It has been a tremendous four weeks on the campaign trail for all of us who ran. I commend each and every one of the candidates who stepped forward to run in Langford and across the province – it takes courage to put yourself out there.

"I’d like to thank my family for their ongoing support as I took on the challenge of campaigning and as I now step into this new role. I also am deeply grateful for the support of many volunteers and donors who made this all possible – I couldn’t have done it without them.

"I want to express my appreciation for the work of outgoing mayor Stewart Young and the outgoing council to build Langford into the powerhouse that it is today. They have helped build the foundation that we now get to move forward from as we usher in the next era for Langford.

"I and my fellow councillors-elect recognize we have been given an overwhelming mandate from Langford residents. I am looking forward to sitting down with the new council and getting to work together right away."
